Seems appropriate to start you off with an anecdote from W's late sister, Julie. As a small boy, Wheeler's first great proud moment came when as a reward for some small-boy triumph, his great friend, Carlton Winslow, Sr--aka known as the architect of Balboa Park---honored him with a special bookmark in exquisite hand-printed Gothic script (once a requisite for the profession) with his entire name spelled out. It read, Wheeler James Applesauce North - Nobody was ever sure when he dropped the tasty part.
